The Quijos Valley and Rio Quijos Reserve is one of our hidden gems as its surrounded with Humid Forests, Rivers and Waterfalls. There are around 258 registered bird species and some of the specialties and unique to this area are the Andean Motmot, Andean Cock of the Rock Peruvian Subspecie and Gorgeted Woodstar. The reserve features extensive forest trails, hummingbird gardens, tanager and oropendolas feeders, and torrent duck observation at Rio Quijos.
Some of the frequent possible bird species include Andean Motmot, Gorgeted Woodstar, Grey-breasted Mountain Toucan, Inca Jay, Turquoise Jay, Andean Cock of the Rock Peruvian Subspecie, Masked Trogon, Tawny-bellied Hermit, Speckled Hummingbird, Long-tailed Sylph, White-tailed Hillstar, Bronzy Inca, Booted-Rackettailed, Violet-fronted Brilliant, Rufouscent Tiger Heron, Subtropical Cacique and others.
